Experience industrial history, arts and architecture, modern city development and daily life in Denmark.

We visit the Carlsberg City,  the home of KP Copenhagen, but also an area rich in history and architecture.

Carlsberg Breweries were originally established 1847 in a rural area close to Copenhagen, and developed by a remarkable family dynasty. Both science and the arts were held in high esteem. This is evidenced by groundbreaking advances in biochemistry, and by both exquisite and eccentric architecture carried through by father and son in the Carlsberg family. They sometimes acted as rivals, both as brewers and as major arts sponsors.

For 161 years the area was a major brewery, until 2008 large scale beer production ceased at Carlsberg. Since then the old industrial area has been developed with modern housing, while integrating the old production, the brewers’ botanical garden, the Elephant Gate etc. The area is with housing from low up to skyscraper size, shops playgrounds etc.

How to find Campus Carlsberg

Campus Carlsberg is located extremely close to Carlsberg St. From the Central Station, only two stops and 5 minutes (Line B, Bx, C, H). Or you can walk to Campus Carlsberg, 35 minutes from the Central Station (depending on where your hotel is located).

However, if you need to reach the campus by bus, there are various options. Lines 1A, 9A, 11, and 23 all have stops close to campus. We recommend looking it up at “Rejseplanen”

rejseplanen.dk/

or downloading the app. If you have Google Maps, you can also use the app for your public transportation schedule. (More transport information in the link “Good things to know”)
