Integrative teaching practicum (30 days at a primary / lower secondary school)
The integrative teaching practicum develops students’ teaching skills by combining theory, practice, and collaboration.
The aim of the integrative teaching practicum is for students to acquire professional, educational, and didactical competencies to plan, implement, evaluate, analyze, and reflect on teaching processes.
Students will learn how to contribute to the creation and management of inclusive communities and gain insight into other core tasks of a teacher, such as parent-teacher relations and teamwork.
During the integrative teaching practicum, students gain experience teaching primary and lower secondary school subjects and gain insight into other essential tasks of a teacher.
The teacher education program combines theory and practice, both in class and during teaching experience. The experiences and insights gained from teaching practice are continuously integrated into all subjects and throughout the studies using portfolios or other systematic methods for obtaining empirical data.
Teaching experience is organized and implemented in groups, typically consisting of 2-4 students, arranged according to their subjects and schedules. Teaching experience is prepared, implemented, and evaluated in collaboration between the teacher education program and the teaching practice school.
Attendance in the integrative teaching practicum, including preparation, planning, implementation, and follow-up, is compulsory. Attendance on study days at the University College is also mandatory.
